My favorite thing about ATS(r) is the ability it gives us to connect with each other – to really feel the pulse of the music inside another person’s head, to share a brain and artistic vision.

I’ve been watching the reboot of Cosmos, with Neil deGrasse Tyson, and he gives us his version of this profound piece of astronomical wisdom:

(He means the stars in the sky, of course. it’s a shame when this quote is misinterpreted, as it so often is.)

ATS(r) is more than a dance form for me; it’s a philosophy, a way of interacting with the world and with other people. And what a gift it is to get back to that real, honest connection: we all come from the same source, we are made of star-stuff.

What’s your favorite part of connecting with your fellow dancers in the moment?

  1. Dancing the same ATS language with dancers that I have never danced with before~ Eye contact with strangers~ Exciting !!!

  2. There’s a moment, brief though it may be, when you are circling up with other dancers (whether or not you have danced with them before), and you make eye contact… there’s that almost slow-motion sensation when you just know that you’re all rockin’ the hell out of the set!
    It’s pretty awesome.
